The Large Robot team is leaving the nest this weekend, August 7-8, and we’re headed to the University of California, Irvine for DrupalCamp LA, the largest independent Drupal event in the world for two years running. At last count, we’re presenting (and co-presenting) 10 sessions this year.
Large Robot’ executive team, including Lee Vodra, Cary Gordon and myself, Christefano, will be there along with members of our team and close to 500 other attendees who are attending more than 100 presentations, activities and Birds of a Feather sessions. This is really a Drupal event that’s not to be missed.
Several of the Large Robot team are presenting, including myself and our team members, Rain Breaw, Michael Thorne and Adam Ross. Rain and I are also two of DrupalCamp LA’s lead organizers, together with fellow co-organizers (and LA Drupal co-managers) Chris Charlton and Mike Stewart.
Rain is co-organizing several events, including the Drupalchix Install Fest, and is presenting a few sessions:
- Views Demystified (the most popular session from DrupalCamp LA 2009)
- Getting involved with the ladrupal.org website
Michael Thorne is presenting:
Adam Ross is co-presenting with Jim Woods on Atrium, Spaces, Context and Features:
I’ll be sitting in on various panels and presentations, namely the drupalcampla.com case study with John Romine and Mike Stewart, and Ashok Modi’s front-end and back-end performance sessions.
Ashok and I will be using the drupalcampla.com website as the showpiece for the performance sessions and we’ll demonstrate how it uses Varnish, memcached, APC, a CDN and how it’s totally buzzword-compliant.
I have a few presentations, as well:
- Professional Staging and Deployment: Today’s Best (and Worst) Practices (co-presented with Adam Ross and Joshua Brauer)
- Drupal and Virtualmin: Managing unlimited Drupal sites with your own VPS
- Getting Things Drupal (GTD): How the Drupal community works (co-presented with Doug Vann)
Putting together a DrupalCamp is a collaborative effort and DrupalCamp LA 2010 is no different. The entire DrupalCamp LA organizing team has worked tirelessly and has risen with all the challenges as they have come up.
I’m personally grateful to Chris Charlton, Mike Stewart, Rain Breaw, Nicole Bluto, Miguel Hernandez, Pete Benjamin and especially John Romine, our venue coordinator. It goes without saying that John’s patient and steady hand has helped make this and last year’s DrupalCamp LA conferences possible, but his contributions have been invaluable and they cannot be understated.
I have no doubt this will be the best DrupalCamp LA yet. See you there!
